Pretty generic values, right? Well to each person they probably mean something different. So, let me tell you what they mean to me.
I think all of the values listed above make me who I am. I try to be honest with everyone I met. Honesty is the best policy even if it means taking the high road because at the end of the day you know you did the right thing. I give my respect and I hope to receive it in return. One's respect can go a long way. Even if it's just holding the door. I think it takes a lot of courage in life to do what you want. And what I mean by that is sticking up for what you believe in. Be unique, be yourself. It is really important to me, that I am able to balance my life. Everything has it's time and place it just depends how you handle it. Next, is trust. Trust is a BIG one to me. It kind of goes hand and hand with HONESTY! You can't trust someone without their honesty. Trusting people and their opinions is how I go through each and every day. Education is key. Education will improve our world. We need to give people the opportunity to learn and experience the world for themselves. FINALLY, my family. I would not be where I am today without my family, especially my dad. My dad has passed along many of his own values to me. My dad keeps me in check with reality. Family is there for you when no one else. I include my friends in my family. I have no idea what I would do without my best friend, Jess. She is always there for me. And it's a good thing that I have so many sisters I can share these values with. My alpha gam sisters are always there too. They are like my second family. I can't imagine my life without AGD, my family, and friends. Those are my main values, well at least the ones I could think of at the moment... :)
On a side note, I wanted to include this video. You may have seen it on an AT&T commercial. But, I really admired Blake and how he pays it forward. HE IMPACTS THE WORLD!
with love,
Jenny :)
Jenny,
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with this quote: "Everything has it's time and place it just depends how you handle it." How you handle it depends on your values, and you have great perspectives on unoriginal values. Still they are your values and I feel as though they are some of the most essential values people should have in life.
Jenny, I LOVEEE toms shoes!! i think Blake's idea is one of the greatest ideas ever. I saw Blake speak when he came to OSU last fall, and it definitely made a lasting impression on me. loved reading your post!
ReplyDeleteThanks for taking the time to explain what each value means to YOU! I agree that values mean something differently to each person...
